Alaphilippe Tirreno-Adriatico loop with Milan-San Remo in the sights
We expected Tadej Pogacar to conquer a second Tirreno-Adriatico on Sunday on the shores of the Adriatic, a little less than the German Phil Bauhaus winning in the sprint, and it was not certain that Julian Alaphilippe will be able to finish the Course des deux mers after his big gadin of Strade Bianche.
If the general classification of the double world champion is anecdotal (33rd), we will have seen it in several registers: on the run with Tadej Pogacar in the final of the 3rd stage towards Terni, as a teammate to prepare the ground for Remco Evenepoel the next day in Bellante and in a breakaway on Saturday in the most mountainous day of the week, in Carpegna.
“It’s work that will soon pay off, I’m sure”
“I am satisfied with the week, he enjoyed Sunday on arrival. I end up tired, it was a big week, tested. I’m glad I hurt myself the day before yesterday (same) all day. My back pain has faded, but I feel like I’m not top top, I suffered, especially yesterday (same) Where we were all the time on the go, I felt it, but I’m not here to complain. I’m already happy to have been able to do all week. It’s work that will soon pay off, I’m sure. »
Soon it will be Milan-San Remo on Saturday, where despite the few obstacles encountered recently, it will be impossible to remove the winner of the 2019 edition from the list of contenders.
