On the national roads of the Republic of Moldova, 20 road signs have been installed, which help the citizens of Ukraine to reach the border crossing points with Romania, the Government announces. The indicators are yellow and the text is available in Ukrainian and Russian.
“The traffic signs show the direction and name of the border crossing points and the distance to them. Such indicators have been installed on the national roads of the border crossing points on the Moldova – Ukraine segment to those on the Moldova – Romania segment. Refugees from Ukraine who travel by personal car can navigate more easily to reach the Romanian border crossing points from Cahul, Giurgiulesti, Radauti, Costesti and Sculeni.
Directing passengers from Ukraine to other border crossings than Leuseni has streamlined traffic and reduced queues at the Leuseni-Albita customs, ”the Moldovan government said in a press release.
According to the Border Police, from the beginning of the war in Ukraine until now, between February 24 and March 12, 284,436 Ukrainian citizens entered the Republic of Moldova. Of these, 185,362 left the country (176,328 in the MD-RO segment; 9,034 in the MD-AU segment), and 98,299 Ukrainian citizens are on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
