Science without man is just a mystery. Science is vast and, mysterious and often quite tiny ordinary. It surrounds us, shapes our world, is a fantastic common denominator for the different peoples of humanity. From 15 February 2022, an experience-based, an interactive exhibition awaits at the Millenáris. Here you too can discover, get to know and try out Hungarian inventions that were real milestones on the winding path of science to the present.

The chocolate soldier in Óbuda

The exhibition is about the transfer of chocolate lords with special properties from the table to a military menagerie. Focusing on the Great War, he presents his triumphant journey: the Aztec cocoa, called slum by the Spanish conquering soldiers, became the food of the gods and the delicacy of soldiers.

In fighting, the soldier could rely primarily on the food he had. The chocolate was small, delicious, nutritious and refreshing, making the food varied. During the Great War, the Austro-Hungarian soldier received 50 g of chocolate or 50 g of cocoa with 50 g of sugar. It poured into the front in love packs, conjuring warmth into the trenches at home, it also served as food for the soul. It was essential in healing wounded, sick, recovering soldiers. Chocolate factories bathed in golden rain.

DE MARKT – 4K flea market in Kőbánya

The 4K cultural center is located in the heart of Kőbánya, in a factory building that used to be a salami factory in the rust zone. The DE MARKT flea market, which starts on the spring season on Sunday, awaits sellers and buyers.
