Toulouse. The number of animal abandonments breaks a sad record, this shelter calls for help

the month of June, the rate of animals abandoned since has rarely been so high for the ATPA-SPA refuge in Toulouse located at 6 impasse Marie-Laurencin. A special adoption day is organized this Saturday, March 12, 2022 to free up places in the already saturated refuge.
” It’s a call for help “
A special adoption day is planned for this Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the shelter. Anne-Marie Aubert, vice-president of the structure, confides in Toulouse news :
“The shelter is totally saturated, we are in the red. This adoption day is a call for help”.
During this day, you will be able to leave directly with the animal which you fell in love with. None is required except to have an identity card on you. For any additional information regarding a possible adoptionall information is available on the shelter’s website.
Sad numbers…
Since June, the rate of animal abandonment is climbing at breakneck speed. The Registered Shelter 348 abandoned dogs since 1uh June 2021 to date. The numbers are even higher for cats since 461 have the refuge integrated over the same period…
For Anne-Marie Aubert, two factors would be the cause of this sharp increase:
“The health crisis has caused a disastrous financial situation for some. For lack of resources, several people have abandoned their animals. These figures are also explained by the number of animals taken during confinement only in the but of being able to go out and there, this act of abandonment is truly unacceptable and cruel”.
Donation collections
The Toulouse refuge benefits from the support of the store Truffaut de Colomiers. To help them in this period of “crisis”, a collection of donations is organized in the store on March 18 and 19, 2022. A tank will be placed within sight so that customers can put necessary supplies on it. The ATPA-SPA does not benefit from a subsidy and exists thanks to donations. It is therefore possible for you to go to the refuge every day except Sunday to bring kibble, litter…
