The Peace Initiative of Ukraine demands humanitarian corridors and ensures the evacuation of civilians as well as the complete disconnection of Russian banks from the SWIFT system.
Representatives led the initiative to SNP Square in Bratislava, where another protest rally in support of Ukraine and its Peace of Ukraine: For your citizens and our freedom – We will win together! Other demands include an immediate halt to oil and gas imports from Russia.
The initiative also included helping the Ukrainians to defend the country and all available means, ensuring the protection of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities and stopping the misinformation spread in the media and on the Internet. The director of the League for Human Rights, Zuzana Števulová, pointed out that bombing civilians is a war crime and a crime against humanity.
According to her, the public should make it clear that it will not tolerate the use of weapons, will not tolerate the use of chemical weapons against civilians and must insist that they adhere to the security of humanitarian corridors. “If we fail to do this, if we need the millions of people in Ukraine exposed to bombs and chemical weapons, we will not only fail as a civilization, but we may be prepared for the fact that in a few years it may be us.”She said.
Lucia Ďuriš Nicholson (RE), Member of the European Parliament, said in a protest that that current sanctions are perceived as sensitive and that Russia must bleed economically. According to her, this will happen when Russian oil and gas are banned throughout the European Union (EU) without exception. She noted that this ban had hit Slovakia hard, however, that the country would also be able to cope with EU money.
