CoV: From one record to the next
timeline
The CoV infections in Salzburg are currently one record after the other. Although the numbers are likely to continue to rise in the coming days, politicians are sticking to the easing. The number of infections is expected to decrease in two weeks.
Almost 3,000 people are currently infected with the virus every day, and more than 22,000 people in Salzburg are currently infected – there have never been so many at the same time.
The hope of politicians can be summarized as follows: soon enough, so many people will be vaccinated and/or recovered that the virus will simply run out of hosts – then it’s time to breathe a sigh of relief. When that WILL be, however, cannot really be estimated.
Reproduction number currently at 1.07
The number of reproductions in Salzburg is currently 1.07, according to Gernot Filipp, head of the Statistics Department at the State of Salzburg. “Due to this number of reproductions, it can be assumed that the number of infections will continue to rise in the next few days and then remain at a high level. Here you also have to hope for the seasonal effect – when the weather gets warmer, experience has shown that the number of infections decreases somewhat. But there is currently no recovery in sight in the short or medium term,” says Filipp.
The seven-day incidence in Salzburg is currently over 3000 for the first time – this value has increased daily in the past few days. The five to 14-year-olds are currently the hardest hit by the pandemic.
Utilization figures in hospitals stable
However, because the occupancy rates in the hospitals are stable – three patients are currently in the intensive care units, around 100 in normal beds – politicians see no reason to withdraw relaxation measures.
You also take personal responsibility. After all, it is not written anywhere that it is forbidden to put on a mask, according to the office of Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP).
