The Botanical Garden in Troy gets a new bridge. It connects the Fata Morgana greenhouse with the rest of the garden
This year, for the first time, outdoor exhibits will be linked to the Fata Morgana greenhouse – a bridge is being built over the entrance connecting Troja and the Bohnice housing estate. Thanks to this, visitors will be able to comfortably walk through the entire complex, “said Bičíková.
According to her, the garden management therefore proceeded to adjust the entrance fee to the complex, which are newly uniform. Adult visitors pay 150 crowns for entry, children under 15 years of age have 100 crowns and children under three can enter the complex for free. Earlier, adults paid 100 crowns for a visit to outdoor exhibitions, and if they wanted to go through the Fata Morgana greenhouse, they paid 150 crowns.
New investments
This year, further investments await the garden, the aim of which is to increase the comfort and experience of visitors. New exhibition units are being built in the gardens of the complex as an exposure of endangered species or Japanese fog forests. The repair of the wine house in the listed vineyard of St. Clare, which is part of the complex, has also begun. The reconstruction should cost about 28 million crowns without VAT and it should be ready by 2023.
A new entrance area is also being built with the visitor center and exhibition hall in Nádvorní Street. It has been built since the summer of 2021 by the OHLA ŽS company according to the design of architects from the AND studio. The costs are about 100 million crowns and according to the spokesman, the construction should be completed in January 2023 at the latest.
The area of the botanical garden has been modernized recently. In 2020, a new entrance was opened on the south side of the complex under the vineyard of St. Clare, which was designed by the architect Ladislav Lábus. The construction of the entrance cost about 16 million crowns.
It opened to visitors during the year new entrance with restaurant and lecture hall in the tropical greenhouse Fata Morgana. The construction of the entrance was procured by OHLA ŽS for approximately CZK 130 million. In 2021 it was the construction of the water supply system has also been completed, which leads the water from the Vltava riverbed to the garden area. From this year, the plants grown in the botanical garden should be watered with water from the Vltava. The capital paid 23.8 million crowns for the construction of a water supply system, which measures 828.5 meters.
The Botanical Garden of the Capital, which is a contributory organization of Prague, was founded in 1969. It has been open all year round since August 1992. In 2021, about 315,000 visitors came to the garden. So far, most people visited the capital’s botanical garden in 2019, 376,287 people.
