The University of Antwerp is already doing its bit: from 7 to 10 March, Campus Drie Eiken and the City Campus will open their doors to young donors.
At least twice a year, the Red Cross Flanders organizes a blood collection in six Flemish student cities, for and by students. hope for an accessible way to introduce them to giving blood in order to maintain the blood supply. This year, a total of 27 moments can be scheduled between February 22 and March 23 to give. The kick-off was given on Monday 22 February in Kortrijk, and it’s Antwerp’s turn this week.
Fruit buffet
Collection at the University of Antwerp takes place in the Donor Center at the UZA (7-10 March), and on the City Campus (9 March). “I find it very heartwarming to see how many young people are committed to becoming donors,” says Jasmien Van Oprooij, city manager of Bloedserieus Stadscampus Antwerp. “Every year we see both students who are just starting to study, former students who are even going to free up one in their work agenda along the City Campus.” After donating, each donor can enjoy a fruit buffet and other healthy snacks, so that he gets enough sugars from them again. The benefactors receive a nice goodie bag on top.
