Some regattas succeed better than others. The Danish solo regatta around Funen is open to 450 boats, but it is too little.

It took 120 minutes before all the 450 seats were taken when the organizer opens for registration this weekend, a regatta starting 16 September from Svenborg on Funen. Such an eagerness to sign up was also in 2021 and 2019.

Germany and Denmark

The message has come from 10 different nations, but it is Germany and Denmark that dominate, and make up 90 percent of the boats. Over half of those registered are from Germany.

According to statistics, only one Norwegian boat has been accommodated, but there are two.

Of those enrolled, nine percent are completely fresh 25 percent have never completed, while 67 percent have received the famous t-shirt, and garments only those who complete can receive.

Without measurement rule

In Silverrudder, the boats are divided into classes by length and there is no handicap. That seems to be one of the reasons for the success of the regatta. There are an impressive number of old boats that start, and the majority of the participants come to get a T-shirt, not to win.

The few who participate to win do everything they can, and are happy to pose with an oversized spinnaker.

Boats are also being developed for Silverrudder. Dehler 30 NPD in the class «Small» for boats up to 30 feet. In September, the Dehler 30 OD was challenged by the Aelos P30, developed by the German Hans Genthe who has won Silverrudder twice with his Farr 280.

The “Medium” class is the largest, for boats between 30 and 35 feet, but 133 boats.

As many as 82 X-Yachts boats are registered, 19 percent of all participants. Number two is Seascape with 27 boats, which could probably have been more if Beneteau had not renamed these boats to First. There are in fact 16 boats registered from Beneteau as well.

X-Yachts is a sponsor of Silverrudder, and both customers and employees are active participants. Last year, the yard’s manager Kræn B. Nielsen sailed in an X4.0

For Seascape / Beneteau, the regatta is also big, and has Silverrudder on its schedule. There are also starting to be many Dehler 30 ODs on the starting line.
