Twenty-three years old, born in Lerici and raised in Genoathe two cities between which she divides, the young biologist Marta Musso and the “Woman of the sea 2022”.

He won the first edition of the prize organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (Ioc) of theUnescoby B Women and the Donne di mare association, with the project Posseawhich starts from his passion for the sea, and for plankton in particular.

The idea is to go to the beaches, to sailing and surfing schools and to the centers with an old yellow post van in Germany transformed into a laboratory, to tell children about life, even with specific books and games made. An itinerant dissemination project.

“Plankton is my passion and my specialization. The idea is to start from the small and the invisible, something we know little about but which is actually very important for us and for our blue planet, to describe the sea as big system” nut.

What is plankton? “Both microalgae and zooplankton – explains Marta Musso, who like the sea of ​​Lerici was her first” playground “- there are micro-animals that always live in the plankton and others instead that are the” puppies “of other animals such as fish, stars marine and crabs: a very vast world that produce 50% of the oxygen we breathe “.
