Parking with a Ukrainian license plate in Berlin is now free of charge
Vehicles with Ukrainian license plates can be parked in Berlin free of charge from now until the end of May. This is shared by the districts of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, Mitte, Pankow, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Spandau and Steglitz-Zehlendorf. There are zones in these six boroughs where parking for motorists is subject to a charge.
Thousands of people fleeing the war in Ukraine arrive in Berlin every day. These arrive exclusively by buses and trains. Some Ukrainians, on the other hand, traveled to Berlin in their own cars, the authorities said in a statement. Your accommodations are also located in at least one with parking management.
In order not to impose any additional burdens on people in these difficult times, the Berlin districts with parking space management have agreed at short notice to tolerate parking without a parking permit, without a resident parking permit or without a special permit.
According to the principle of opportunity, the regulatory authorities may issue these exceptions. “The other regulations of the road traffic regulations are not affected by this,” it says explicitly. This means that the road traffic regulations still apply to those affected.
