The pylon of the new pedestrian bridge in Csepel was installed at the athletic stadium
The seventy-meter-high and nearly two hundred-tonne pylon of the new pedestrian bridge in Csepel was lifted with the Clark ship crane, writes Dávid Vitézy, director of the Budapest Development Center on the community side.
He adds that the crossing is intended to create a connection between Csepel Island and the Budapest Athletics Stadium under construction. The plans were prepared by the Budapest Development Center. In the order of the Investment Agency, ZÁÉV Építőipari Zrt. And Magyar Építő Zrt., As well as the subcontractor and contractor Hídépítő Zrt. district and the XXI. on the Csepel side of the district, and on the Divide Island with the Clark ship crane lifted the pylon seventy meters high and nearly two hundred tons.
The work of art is located above the Ráckeve (Soroksári) -Danube branch between the Kvassay sluice and the Danube estuary. In this section there is an artificial island called the Dividing Island, which divides the Danube branch in front of the lock. The bridge got its name from here. The athletic stadium and the footbridge with the athletic training track on Csepel Island will keep you going.
The new 36-hectare public park in Csepel will be directly accessible from the bridge under construction, its preliminary plans were presented in early February, and there will also be a very long pedestrian-cycling axis, which in some cases will include larger green areas. In this way, it will be possible to walk from the Danube Arena to Csepel without crossing car traffic.
The nearly 170-meter-long Divide Island Bridge (168.9 meters) will be a two-post, single-pillar, sloping cable-stayed pedestrian bridge with steel-reinforced stiffeners and track slabs. The handover of the bridge is due on March 31, 2023, along with the Athletic Stadium. It can be approached from the north only from the stadium area, which corresponds to the work area until the handover. The same is true at the south end. Due to the construction of athletic outdoor training fields, this area will be closed soon, until March 2023, Vitézy writes.
The bridge contains many interesting solutions, writes Pestbuda.hu. On the one hand, the bridge deck does not lead straight from one shore to the other, but with a comfortable, beautiful curve, as a result of which pedestrians will have a special sight when crossing the bridge. The other curiosity is that the bridge is held by a huge needle reaching into the sky. In technical language, the bridge will be an orthotropic steel track bridge.
