The head of the British Defense Staff, Admiral Tony Radakinsky, said that the British should not go to fight in Ukraine. He helped by staying around the house. He said this in an interview with the BBC.
Tony Radakinova also says that the creation of a selfless zone will not help to tactically prove the escalation of hostilities.
In his opinion, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is unsuccessful, Russia is losing its strength and will not be enough for a long time.
He urged the British not to “rush to the sound of gunshots” but to support Ukraine by clever methods from Britain.
Asked if British Foreign Secretary Liz Trass was right to say she would support any Briton who wanted to fight in Ukraine, the admiral said: “We all understand these feelings, but we need to support them in other ways to support Ukraine.” .
According to him, the Russian military has significant losses, they give fighting spirit and they have faulty equipment. He believes that some Russian soldiers threw a convoy stuck near Kyiv and set up camp in a nearby forest.
No-fly zone
At the same time, the British admiral spoke out against the no-fly zone over Ukraine.
“Our advice as a professional military for our politicians is to avoid actions that are tactically ineffective, and we should definitely not do anything that could lead to irreparable mistakes or escalation,” Radakin said of the fieldless zone.
He believes that the greatest destruction in Ukraine was caused by artillery shelling, not aerial bombardment.
Nuclear threats
Admiral Radakin also called for a calmer approach to Putin’s nuclear threats.
According to him, the West must remain calm, approach the situation accordingly and not react to the choice of “strange or absurd statement” by the President of Russia.
“We are ready. We have added to this conflict with the level of professionalism and responsibility that is expected of us,” he said.
“We are also absolutely confident in our ability to stand up to President Putin,” he added.
Radakin’s liaison decides that the British General Staff has a liaison with the Chief of General Staff of Russia, Valery Gerasimov.
The British Ministry of Defense has a direct line of communication with the Russian General Staff, its serviceability is checked every day.
Admiral Radakin said that he had recently offered to talk to Russian General Gerasimov through this line of communication and was awaiting a response.
Comment by BBC Defense correspondent Jonathan Bill
High-ranking British officers are sincerely concerned that some British troops, including reservists, may try to go to war in Ukraine, thus risking Russian propaganda.
Last week, Lieutenant General James Swift, who is in line with the British Armed Forces’s personnel policy, sent out a personal reply reminding him that British troops were “not allowed” to travel to Ukraine.
It is reported that if British troops go to war in Ukraine, they risk not only their lives, but also risk creating a “misconception” for Russia, as if Britain had given up the army to take part in hostilities.
Admiral Sir Tony Radakin reiterated this signal, saying such actions would be “illegal and harmful”.
The British Ministry of Defense believes that none of the British military has left for Ukraine today. However, it is more difficult to track reservists.
