Former Toulouse Football Club (TFC) defender Lucien Aubey was indicted in January 2020 for fraud and death threats. With stylist Mohamed Dia, creator of the M.DIA brand, the footballer allegedly scammed one of his neighbors between January 2015 and early 2017. Amount of damage: 145,897 euros. As the investigation comes to an end, the alleged victim wanted to speak in the columns of The Dispatch. “I want to come out of silence to help people. To prevent them from falling into the trap,” he insists.
It was after having sympathized with the footballer in 2014 that the suspect saw his life change. During a neighborhood discussion, he allegedly attributed to Lucien Aubey having recently received 200,000 euros following a road accident. A sum that the ex-TFC player advised him to invest in several projects. “He insisted on helping me. His attitude touched me. He was like a big brother. (…) In one year, I paid 145,897 euros for various projects. I had confidence in Lucien and his relations”, he relates to the regional daily.
Especially since to convince his new friend, Lucien Aubey would not have hesitated to put the odds on his side, by calling on Franck Ribéry. The French international reportedly called him on his birthday and sent a Bayern Munich jersey to his son. “In Paris, they introduced me to a singer, I was welcomed with a car and driver… It helped to put me in confidence”, testified the alleged victim in the columns of The Teamin July 2021.
Seeing no return on investment, the neighbor of Lucien Aubey then asked the latter to account, before demanding a refund of the sums invested. In vain… “He made very violent death threats on the phone against my children, my partner and myself. My lawyer and the gendarmes have all the proof of what I am saying”, says the one who decided to file a complaint for fraud in 2016. As the investigation draws to a close, a confrontation is expected between the two parties.
