The pair feat was not a conference either, the Australian tennis players advanced
Sydney – The Hungarian duo won the Davis Cup clash on Saturday, but we lost both singles, including the match.
At the end of Friday’s opening day, the duel was 1-1, as Red Siege snatched Alex de Minaur and then Márton Fucsovics defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis. Captain Zoltán Nagy originally nominated Fucsovics and Marozsán for the sequel, and eventually sent the two youngsters in pairs, sparing Fucsovics for each of the following matches.
The Marozsa, Fabian double proved to be a great choice as the duo stood out in the mud at the stadium’s 87-year-old, eight-time Grand Slam winner’s naming show at the Ken Rosewall Arena against the John Peers, Luke Saville double. At the opponent, the 33-year-old Peers is a true doubles specialist, finishing 12th in the ATP World Rankings, winning 26 tournaments – including the 2017 Australian Opent and two ATP World Championships – and winning an Olympic bronze medal in the women’s world side Ashleigh Barty last year in a mixed doubles. Saville, 25, who is 53rd in the doubles ranking, made his first appearance in the national team.
“It was a crazy match, I’m not a doubles player, maybe we just played with Fabi for the fifth time,” said Máté Valkusz in an interview on the field.
In the fourth act of the duel, Fucsovics entered the field against the other leading player, Alex de Minaur. Our tennis player stood up to his rival five places ahead of him in the event that if he won, the Hungarian national team would advance to the DK finals in September and November. In the shortening of the first game, the Australian was able to reverse the 4-2 Hungarian lead with five won ball runs, which maintained the momentum in the second set as well, pulling him to 3-0. From here, Marci had the power to hold on to three matches, but in the fourth he had already capitulated.
It was up to Red Sicily how our fate would change. He held his own, but his opponent, who is more than a hundred places in the world rankings, defeated him in a close match, so Australia advanced and the Hungarian team fought for the qualifier to remain in the world group qualifiers in September.
