To date, 101,529 refugees have arrived in Slovakia across the Ukrainian border due to the war in Ukraine. It has handled 11,208 people at the border in the last 24 hours. For comparison, 106,400 people crossed Poland alone yesterday. Altogether, 787,300 refugees have passed on to our northern neighbors since the beginning of the war.
From Friday evening to Saturday morning, 4,376 people crossed the Ukrainian border in eastern Slovakia. In the last 24 hours, 7,715 people crossed the border at the Vyšné Nemecké crossing. 1,986 people crossed the Ubľa border crossing and 1,507 refugees crossed Veľké Slemence.
Interior Minister Roman Mikulec said at yesterday’s press conference that most of the refugees only crossed our country through their own in other countries. More than 90% are Ukrainians. According to the head of the Ministry of the Interior in Slovakia, approximately 2,000 Ukrainians have so far requested temporary shelter.
People to whom our authorities offer temporary refuge will be entitled to basic health care in the same way as asylum seekers. If these persons are accommodated in the asylum facilities of the Ministry of the Interior, they provide them with meals, pocket hygiene needs as well as asylum seekers. The institute of temporary refuge will be Slovakia’s citizens of Ukraine and their relatives assistance until the end of 2022.
