Vietnamese frigate begins multilateral naval exercise MILAN 2022 | Politics
Visakhapatnam (VNA) – Frigate 016 – Quang Trung of the People’s Navy of Vietnam left the port of the Indian city of Visakhapatnam on March 2 to participate in maneuvers at sea as part of the multilateral naval exercise MILAN 2022 for three days according to the initial plan.
The frigate 016 – Quang Trung belongs to the 3rd Tactical Group (comprising 7 ships from India, France, Sri Lanka, Seychelles and Vietnam) which performs the following exercises: communication, training maneuvers, maritime logistics, boat training , artillery shooting courses, dealing with situations at sea…

Participating in the exercise at sea, in addition to 13 warships from other countries, there is also a submarine, 2 sailing ships and 4 helicopters from the host country India and other countries.
The naval exercise, involving 42 nations, was due to take place off the coast of Visakhapatnam in southeastern India from February 25 to March 4. This year, the United States is participating for the first time.
This is the first time that Vietnam has sent a warship to participate in this multilateral naval exercise considered the most important in the Asia-Pacific region.
In 2018, the MILAN multilateral naval exercise brought together 17 countries and Vietnam sent a delegation of observers. In 2020, this exercise was canceled due to the Covid-19 outbreak. -VNA
