The pandemic revealed everything in full nudity. In 2019, almost 31,500 nurses were still working in healthcare. In ten years, their number has decreased by five percent, ie an average of about 160 per year.
However, only 600 were lost last year. The staff was exhausted from the covid and its waves, pulling overtime. The facility was asked by the government to increase salaries systematically, but this did not happen. And now the sector is waiting for another test. War in Ukraine. She sent some paramedics to the border, where they help.
At the same time, there is a supply of refugees who also need care. The threat is the care of the injured, while for now we are talking about the allocation of possible performance.
Increasing the number of Ukrainians
According to the Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský, we currently have 450 volunteers with health education who help migrants. In addition, the law on economic mobilization has spread, which says that the situation will be bad, we can offer not only doctors and nurses at the border, but also ambulances.
Paradoxically, the problem with the missing staff could also move towards a solution due to the conflict. We would also like to increase the situation by the new law, which will enter into force a few days later, on 15 March.
