Undeclared protest demonstrations still prohibited in the hypercentre
For several months, demonstrations against the use of the vaccine pass have animated Saturdays in the pink city. To face it, the prefecture of Haute-Garonne takes a stopped before gatherings. This last vise prohibit access to the hypercentre of Toulouse to undeclared demonstrations.
As the prefecture explains: “The absence of a declaration of demonstration does not make it possible to identify the organizers able to control the number of participants, the respect of barrier measures and social distancing”. The possibility of public order disturbances is feared, in particular after certain outbursts during undeclared gatherings in recent months.
The press release from the prefecture also highlights the “non-compliance with barrier measures and social distancing” during previous undeclared demonstrations. He recalls the current situation in the department: “The spread of the Covid-19 virus in the Haute-Garonne department remains worrying”. As of February 23, 2022, the incidence rate is 1,016 positive cases detected per 100,000 people in the departement. Note that the maximum alert threshold is set at 250 cases per 100,000 people.
