These pizza makers will nominate Toulouse and Haute-Garonne for the French pizza championship

The competition promises to be fierce. Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 March 2022, the French pizza championship will take place at the Parizza fair in Paris. Nearly 130 pizzaiolos will decide. Among them are nine professionals based in Toulouse and in Upper Garonne.
Nine qualified in Haute-Garonne
Here is the list of the nine qualified in the department:
- Antonio Teixeira – Toulouse
- Nidal Mansouri – Toulouse
- Fabien Castagne-Toulouse
- Joel Olive – Bruguières
- Cedric Romans – Granada
- Alexandre Decaix-Gaillac
- Nicolas Robin-Gaillac
- Franck Aiello – Villeneuve-lès-Bouloc
- Guillaume Messinèse – Colomiers
Everyone hopes to succeed Tian Siongthe reigning champion, who won over the jury with his pizza called “Un air de fête” made up of scallops, carrots and… clementines!
A jury of experts from the world of pizza will decide between these hundred professionals. In total, six events will be organized during these two days of competition. These will evaluate in particular the speed, the quality or the acrobatics performed by the pizza makers.
Pizza, an increasingly popular dish
The French fell in love with pizza. On average, per year, 745 million pizzas are consumed on French soil. This represents an average annual turnover of 4.58 billion euros.
“Italian gastronomy is on the rise more than ever… No. 1 of the most ordered dishes for delivery, pizza is the big winner of the health crisis and occupies an important place in the hearts of the French! », proclaims Julien Panet, the president of the Association of French Pizzerias.
