San Marino-Russia Association: A fratricidal war
A war in Europe, an open war between Russia and Ukraine, was unthinkable and every personal analysis of mine, every thoughtful opinion, did not foresee what happened. If any war is stupid and unacceptable, this is even more so. Russia has decided to attack the whole of Ukraine, not limiting itself to supporting the two republics of Donetsk and Luhans’k, with the declared intent to defend its population from the aggressive expansion of NATO and the neo-Nazis who dominate the country. Regarding NATO’s eastward expansion, it is undeniable that there has been and is perceived as a real threat not only to Russian interests but also to its security and sovereignty. The neo-Nazi groups present in Ukraine since 2004, from the unfortunate “Orange Revolution”, were the protagonists of the riots of 2014 and were guilty of horrible crimes that, in fact, the government of Kiev did not want, or could not , to punish and repress because, albeit marginal in the Rada (Ukrainian parliament), the para-Nazis condition the politicians with their own strength in the streets.
“If since 2015 Kiev has never applied the main points of the agreement reached with the Donbass separatists under the aegis of France and Germany, this is also due to the threats of the para-Nazi groups.” (Corriere della Sera, Fabrizio Dragosei). The San Marino-Russia Association was born with the aim of helping dialogue, preventing Russia’s isolation from pushing it further and further away from Europe, towards the east, leaving a weak and increasingly marginal Europe. Precisely for this reason we would like the institutions of our Republic to San Marino as a place of dialogue for the resolution of the conflict: our centuries-old neutrality community invites our presence to our participation in Russia to build the pace! It is never too late for dialogue, to ask that we stop and go back to reasoning and recognizing the mistakes made on all sides. It is not yet too late to rediscover all brothers.
