Greece: The slow internet “pays gold”
According to the Commission report, the prices for medium, high and very high speed internet connection speeds are from 6% to 136% more accurate than the first average.
Our country is in the penultimate position in speeds, in the same group with Albania and Northern Macedonia, according to SYRIZA MP Anastasia Gara who stressed that Greece is in the last positions in terms of connectivity and the use of fiber optics.
“At the same time, the report of the Commission on the prices of fixed connections and telephone engines brings our country to the list of the last places in terms of connections at medium, high and very high speeds. “In terms of medium and high, prices in our country are from 6% to 51% more accurate, while at very high speeds prices are from 63% to 136% more accurate,” he said.
The MP asked EETT to take initiatives in order for the providers “to proceed immediately with the upgrade of the lines, offering fast connections”, as he characteristically said. At the same time, he called for an initiative to reduce connection costs, at least to the first average.
“Degradation of ELTA”
She referred to the problems that have been observed since the continuous degradation of ELTA, talking about an increase in complaints about delays in the performance of issues, among others.
Referring to the relevant report, he noted that the quality of services of ELTA is declining, while there are indications of speed and reliability indicators.
“Since December 2020, when the government voted for the amendment for the infamous restructuring of ELTA, 87 questions and reports have been submitted to the Parliament regarding the conscious and deliberate degradation of ELTA”, he stressed, adding that “branches are closing even in remote areas such as Evros, staff are laid off, shops or remain understaffed with reduced opening hours, with services and local communities and citizens being left without even their basic and necessary service.
