War in Ukraine. Toulouse: two support rallies are organized in the city center

Faced with the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, faced with the images of tanks and soldiers storming the bastions of the country led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Toulouse is mobilizing.
A “gathering for peace” in Jean-Jaurès
Two support rallies will be organized in the coming hours and days in the Pink City. The first, which wants to be a “peace rally”will be held on Friday February 25, 2022 at 6 p.m. at the exit of the Jean-Jaurès metro station, allées Franklin Roosevelt, at the call of a dozen organizations including the CGT.
A second rally in Place du Capitole, Sunday
The second gathering will take place Sunday 27 February at 2 p.m., place du Capitole. An initiative taken by the Pulse of Europe Toulouse movement. “Our association joins on this occasion with other European cities wishing to make their voices heard in response to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. This event will also be an opportunity to meet and support the Ukrainians of Toulouse present at our side, indicating this apolitical movement, founded following Brexit “to preserve, promote and strengthen the European Union”.
A Ukrainian community in Toulouse most worried about the turn of events in their country. “The Russians bombed an airfield which is located in the city of Lutsk, where my family resides. My mother and my brother were not hit but they heard the bombs falling, it’s scary. My family has decided not to leave the country, they will stay in Ukraine”, testified for Toulouse news Nataliya Zuzuk, a Ukrainian expatriate in Toulouse, Thursday February 24, 2022.
A letter from Jean-Luc Moudenc to the mayor of Kiev
Toulouse having been twinned with Kiev for almost 50 years, the mayor LR of the Pink City, Jean-Luc Moudenc, wrote a letter of support to his Kiev counterpart, Vitali Klitschko. “A register has been opened at the reception of the Capitol, where Toulouse residents can express their testimonies of support. The Capitol is also adorned with the Ukrainian, French and European flags and other symbolic support actions are underway, ”said the town hall in a press release.
