SEF inspectors say they are “mobilized” to receive Ukrainian refugees in Portugal
The inspectors from the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) guarantee that they will “mobilize” to welcome “the best way” the Ukrainian refugees who may arrive in Portugal in the coming days.
This is the reaction of the SEF Research and Inspection Career Union (SCIF/SEF) to the announcement made by Prime Minister António Costa that Portugal will facilitate entry to his country. .
“The SEF Research Career Association recognizes the special responsibility it has in this specific circumstance”, says Acácio Pereira, president of SCIF/SEF. “We will literally do what we can to ensure that families and people from crania who face tremendous pressure and personal risk, with which we sympathize – can feel welcome in our country.”
The attack on Ukraine is condemned by SEF inspectors “in all its dimensions to give Russia” a response to the “immediate responsibility at the height of the grave circumstances that the Ukrainian people are experiencing”.
“The decision, announced by the Government, to facilitate the entry of only Ukrainian refugees into our country may have a response from the SEF: solidarity, humanism and generosity”, says Acácio Pereira. “Almost 29,000 Ukrainians live in Portugal, a well-integrated community that values our country.”
Among other smaller communities, 8,700 Ukrainians live in Lisbon, 1,600 in Porto and 5,600 in Faro. “This is the time to act hesitantly, with civic sense and total solidarity”, say the inspectors.
