“The doctors say it, the epidemic is not behind us”, slips Didier Gamerdinger, government adviser-minister for Social Affairs and Health.
With Patrice Cellario, government adviser-Minister for the Interior, they released this Friday morning the plan for the relief of health measures for the country, from February 28, with a leitmotif: lighten up while remaining cautious.
“The positivity rate in the Principality is struggling to drop. It is now at 9.8%. This means that the virus continues to circulate quietly, but remains present”details Didier Gamerdinger, defined that the average age of infected people is 41 years old, and that infections mainly take place in the family environment.
Before changing gear to loosen the health constraint more widely, the government intends to gauge where the bottom point of contamination will be. “We are seeing a decline today. But how far will this decline continue? The incidence rate was 430 last week. We believe that the time when the low point was below 50 is over. With a more contagious Omicron variant, you will have to get used to living with the virus. But where will the bottom point be? questions Didier Gamerdinger who would be ready to consider it between 300 and 400.
But this remains a hypothesis, and the government, by delivering these new measures this Friday which will be effective on February 28, promises a reassessment. “constantly, every week”.
Wearing a mask is no longer compulsory during recreation, nor for the practice of indoor sports. The mask remains compulsory in the classrooms and in the corridors.
“We are in a period of observation of the health situation inside the establishments, remaining cautious to measure the impact of all of these decisions”, emphasizes Patrice Cellario.
Uses of the health pass
Introduced on January 10, the obligation to present a health pass for employees working in activities providing essential services (public administrations, concession companies, banks, computer media) is lifted. On the construction sites, consultation with the Employers’ Chamber of Building is in progress, for an appropriate solution.
The health pass remains compulsory for users of shops where it is required, as well as for employees of places where the reception of the public is conditional on the presentation of a health pass.
Nothing changes either to enter a restaurant or go see a show: you have to continue to present your pass. “People are used to it. It works without difficulty”, assures Didier Gamerdinger.
It will again be possible from February 28 to consume at the counter, to organize standing cocktails in establishments, to consume during shows.
Self-service buffets are still prohibited. Similarly, the music limit in bars and restaurants is still set at 74 decibels.
Nightclubs still closed
They remain closed, like the karaoke bars which are still prohibited. “It’s a sector that we don’t forget, promises Patrice Cellario. We will work with them to define the conditions for a recovery, on what date and under what conditions.
As of February 28, combat or contact sports can resume.
From March 7, the mask will no longer be mandatory for indoor sports.
While it was compulsory three days a week, it will, from March 5, now only“recommended” for employees and their employers who so wish.
