Salzburg spring water wins gold medal for world’s best taste
Gaisbergwasser – the small Salzburg start-up wins big at the Fine Water Society’s most important international blind tasting
Salzburg – Surprisingly, the Salzburg start-up “Gaisbergwasser” was able to win the gold medal in the international taste contest of the American Fine Water Society for its “Gaisberg still” spring water, which was bottled in small quantities. Australia (2nd) and Ecuador (3rd) were relegated to second place.
The winner was determined in a blind tasting conducted by a 5-person jury of water sommeliers worldwide.
“A great honor for us and a confirmation of the unique quality of our Austrian water,” says Christian Hetz, Managing Director of Gaisbergwasser GmbH, who only founded the startup in 2020.
In contrast to industrially bottled water, “Gaisberg” is bottled in limited amounts with a lot of manual effort and would like to position itself in a small niche for sustainably produced water, which is obtained with the greatest possible conservation of resources. From is only offered in glass bottles, the offer is primarily aimed at the upscale Austrian gastronomy and hotel industry.
