Restrictions on motorways around Prague: bridges, barriers and walls will be built
Significant traffic restrictions are being prepared on motorways around Prague. With the arrival of spring weather and the new construction season, they are to continue repairing two bridges on the D5 near Chrášťany and on the Prague Ring Road near Černý Most, among other things. Martin Buček from the communications team of the Directorate of Roads and Motorways of the Czech Republic briefly describes the bridges that were worked on last year: they are key. This is a clear message even for motorists who may not have had experience with vehicles from the same jobs in the first year of restriction.

On the D5 near Chrášťany, it is planned to repair parts of the bridges over Plzeňská and Chýňská Streets in the lane towards Plzeň, where the construction of traffic restrictions (with a partial transfer of traffic in the opposite direction) is planned for the weekend of March 18-20; they should start their own construction work right after that.
This year, on the Prague ring road or the D0 motorway above Chlumecká Street on the north-eastern edge of the metropolis, the demolition and construction of a new section on the eastern side of the bridge is planned; there will also be construction of noise walls and modifications to the branches of the level crossing. “As in 2021, the D0 motorway will be maintained in 0/2 + 2 mode, which means that the motorway lane in the direction from the D10 motorway will be driven in two temporary lanes in each direction. However, traffic will also be restricted in Chlumecká Street; in the construction phases, when in particular the demolition or installation of bridge girders will take place, “Buček pointed out.
Work will take place on the edges of motorways
From the beginning of April, motorists will also limit the repair of barriers or the construction of a gabion wall on the D5 and D0. Overhaul of barriers on the Prague ring road is planned for 159 calendar days in motorway sections between kilometers 76.50 – 82.56 and 0.00 – 28.90. In the part of the section between D1 and D7, a complete exchange is planned, including additions in the places of portals, toll gates, ecoducts, overpasses, SOS voices and noise barriers. Even at the crossings of the central dividing strip, where there are now rope barriers, a different type will be fitted; easy to disassemble.

Gabor walls are to be built on the D5 at the Záluží rest area at the 37th kilometer, which will provide visual and sound shielding for the rest area from highway traffic. Here, too, the replacement of barriers is planned, as well as other work: among other things, the renewal of vertical and horizontal traffic signs or the modification of vegetation.
