Guadeloupean found guilty of raping prostitutes sentenced to do
The Court of Assizes of Lyon sentenced Kévin Rochemont, a 23-year-old Guadeloupean, to a 12-year prison term with a treatment order for three years, for rape and violence against Lyon prostitutes.
It is after 4 hours of deliberation that the verdict fell. Kévin Rochemont, a 23-year-old young man of Guadeloupe origin, was found guilty of rape and violence against Lyon prostitutes on February 22 by the Lyon Court of Assizes.
The Backpack Rapist
The dates back to May and June 2019, in Lyon. Period during which several prostitutes had indicated that they had been violently attacked by an individual. They had said that he approached them for a pass and when they turned their back on him, he grabbed them, operated a choke key on them. He then abused them. All specified that he was carrying a backpack.
The man has, until the end, denied the facts, believing that he is attractive and a multiplier of conquests, therefore having no need to call on prostitutes. Yet it was one of them that helped confuse him. One of his victims, who had kept the forgotten condom used to rape her and had given it to the investigators.
It was an arrest a few weeks later for a misdemeanor that matched his DNA to that of the backpack rapist.
The victims did not think they were believed or taken seriously… For three days, they recounted their ordeal. The Advocate General affirmed that the accused was “narcissistic and dangerous to others“.
The defendant was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment with a treatment order for three years, for two rapes and violence. Fifteen years had been required against this handler.
The sentence could have been heavier. He provided doubt for two more attempted rapes.
