the statements of the secretary Beccari
The military escalation in Ukraine is a great wound for all the peoples of Ukraine and the nations that hold fast to the values of peace and condemn war with equal firmness. Foreign Secretary Luca Beccari is aligned with the position of European and world leaders for a rapid ceasefire in Ukraine, violently stormed in the night in numerous areas, with inevitable and harrowing repercussions, at military and civilian level . The Republic of San Marino does not and will never accept the use of arms to settle disputes that must find their logical place in international law, in the principles of the United Nations Charter and in the use of political mediation and peaceful instruments. These are tools in which we continue to trust in order to put an end, in the bud, to the ongoing hostilities. The institutions and the government of San Marino are deeply shaken in these hours, having also trusted in the multilateral sphere for the political resolution of the long-standing controversy; they are close to the European partners for the unacceptable of fundamental rights in the Ukrainian territory and also for the heavy repercussions throughout Europe. “From the top of this Land of peace and freedom – declares Secretary of State Beccari – the Republic firmly hopes for the withdrawal of the military forces still deployed and their rapid replacement with the rule of law, based on trust and safety mechanisms “. San Marino is in line with the most recent declarations by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, who recalls the sense of humanity that must prevail in these hours. “We deeply care about the condition of so many civilians who, in these hours of profound and sudden bewilderment, harbor well-founded fears for their own safety and those of their loved ones and for changes in the scenario and prospects for their very existence. – continues the Secretary of State Beccari – If the Republic in these hours can raise its voice and can be heard outside its borders, then exercised its own role as a neutral country and protagonist of memorable human solidarity, and heartfelt invitations to a reflection on the surplus value that peace brings with it in the face of the devastation and misery typical of armed conflict ”.
