(…) Libera spoke in harsh tones of attack on freedom of expression, of the instrumental use of the judiciary to punish a non-aligned organ of the press. Not without listing, in each intervention, a series of references included; and evoking terms such as dictatorship. Finger pointed at Roberto Ciavatta: author, it has been said, of the complaint. In reality, a simple letter to the Court, replied the secretary, regarding any law from La Serenissima, and dating back to March last year. And this to disprove the hypothesis, feared by Libera, of a reaction to the publication of the photos of the so-called “April 1st party”. More generally, from the majority, there was talk of an attempt to divert attention from the subject of rules, and the “transparency” of the newspaper: considered by various directors to be a direct emanation of Libera. Express solidarity, then, to those who have been summoned to court for simply sending letters to a newspaper. However, RF spoke of a climate of “intimidation”, “unbreathable”, also denouncing a sort of double standard towards those who are “in line” with the government. (…)
