A revenge-hungry Celtic came to Bodø to restore the impression, after they lost 1-3 at home at Celtic Park in the League League.
The Scottish giant has always been big favorites, at least on paper, but got a real boost when Glimt took another European scalp in Glasgow.
But despite the lead with him in the suitcase, the home team in yellow put themselves in no way in defense, and attacked willingly in known Kjetil Knutsen style.
It turned out to work well, when it was finally 2-0 on the board in the cold winter air at Aspmyra.
– I feel we have a lot to go on. The second half is not as good as the first, but all in all we are very happy with the performance, Ola Solbakken said after the match to Viasat 4.
Pattern counter
It was barely wasted ten minutes of the match before Glimt took the lead in a masterful manner.
Elias Kristoffersen Hagen came at great speed forward and led the ball with a natural confidence.
Hagen was cold and waited outside the defense before he hit the ball to Solbakken. He put the ball to the left before dotting the ball down the corner behind an outplayed Joe Hart.
Further in the round, Glimt continued to dominate the court game, and could have led both 2 and 3-0 at the break, had it not been for good saves from Celtics goalkeeper, Joe Hart.
The biggest chance came after Runar Espejord freed Amahl Pellegrino, who was allowed to run alone long before he was finished in the arm of Hart.
The return fell to Ola Solbakken who sent the ball only inches outside Hart’s right post.
It was 1-0 at the break.
Vetlesen with new scoring
After the break, Glimt did not look as toxic as at first.
More and more passes were beaten to opponents, and Celtic perhaps got the feeling that they had the opportunity to play their way into the match again.
But instead of equalizing, it was Glimt again who could cheer for a new, delicious counterattack.
Amahl Pellegrino ran with the ball before he released it to substitute Morten Ågnes Konradsen, who with a headmaster glance found Hugo Vetlesen in the field.
The Eastlander was behind the 1-3 goal in Scotland, and did not deny himself. With 2-0, it was 5-1 overall to the yellows from Bodø.
Despite some chances at the butt, Celtic never managed to make the bodeo crowd nervous. Glimt is thus on to the 8-part final in the Serie League.
Bitter Celtic coach
After the match, it was an outcast Ange Postecoglou who faced the pressure.
The coach was not further impressed with questions about whether this could be twisted into something positive for Celtic, and it peaked when he was asked if he thought Glimt could win the entire tournament.
– Why should I care? They are a good team of course, but we are not in the tournament anymore, so why should I care about winning the tournament.
