Jansa will attend the EU summit before traveling to Ukraine
BRUSSELS, Belgium – Prime Minister Janez Jansa will attend an extraordinary EU summit on Ukraine in Brussels on Thursday night, then travel to Ukraine on a working visit to support the country, as he faces the threat of a Russian invasion. to its counterparts Denys Shmyhal and President Vladimir Zelenski, and Slovenia will also provide material assistance to Ukraine. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Russian ambassador to Ukraine
LJUBLJANA – The Foreign Ministry announced that it had invited Russian Ambassador Timur Eyvazov over Russia’s recognition of the independence of the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. Bogdan Batič, Deputy Political Director at the Ministry, informed the Ambassador about Slovenia’s strong opposition to Russia’s actions along the Ukrainian border, especially the unilateral recognition of the independence of both Ukrainian regions. Illegal migration more than doubled year on year in January
LJUBLJANA – In the first month of 2022 alone, the police dealt with 693 cases of illegal migration, which is more than twice as many as in January last year. By far the most illegal migrants caught last month were Afghans, which is expected given the situation in the country, police said. Afghan nationals accounted for nearly half of all migrants caught illegally crossing the border in January.
TPV Automotive is employing more staff this year
NOVO MESTO – TPV Automotive, a car supplier from Novo mesto, announced that it employs more staff in all its factories. By the end of the year, they will employ a significant number of new employees, with new employments in several towns and villages in eastern and south-eastern Slovenia. New jobs at TPV Automotive have been created due to the development of breakthrough projects, the company said. In addition to production workers, they are also looking for highly qualified professionals from a wide range of fields, including engineering, IT, robotics and logistics.
Five vaccine fraudsters have been convicted, the report said
LJUBLJANA – The Kranj District Court convicted five men who were involved in fraud in the Covid-19 vaccination, in which one of them was vaccinated on behalf of the other four. The verdicts are not yet final, the Delo newspaper reported on Tuesday. One of the defendants was sentenced to ten months in prison and the other four to a fine.
Ljubljana architectural pearls on French stamps
