The Prague City Hall will announce a tender for approximately 78 million crowns for the modifications of the Central Park in the South Town, which is located between the Opatov C and Háje metro stations. The deputies decided on Thursday. In addition to landscaping, greenery and furniture, the city also plans to build a café, toilets or an amphitheater in the park.
The project should be completed in 2024
The municipality has in the past modified a smaller part of the park, now the planned contract will address most of it. “The central part, which makes up two-thirds of the park, has not yet been revitalized,” said the deputy mayor Petr Hlubuček (TENT). He added that the project is completely ready and after selecting the company they will be able to start work. They should be ready according to the approved document in 2024.
The plan was praised by opposition representatives from Prague 11, such as the chairman of the ANO representative club, Ondřej Prokop. Martin Sedeke (ODS), who is the Prague representative and at the same time the deputy mayor of Prague 11, also thanked the city management. He added that the city district is also preparing modifications to the parts of the park that are located at the exits of both metro stations. “Both revitalizations of these parts are being worked on, it should start soon,” he said.
Preparations for the landscaping began in 2006. Since then, landscaping has been carried out in the western and eastern parts, which have been used to model the area, and publicly lit roads have been built.
