Georgina Verbaan under heavy fire after tweet about hostage situation in Amsterdam
24-02-2022 UPDATE (bottom of article): It has recently been announced that the hostage taker has died of his injuries.
After hours of hostage-taking in the Apple in Amsterdam on Tuesday evening, the hostage victim managed to escape from the suspected suspect around 10:30 pm. He was given a chance when the police brought a bottle of water with a robot. The 44-year-old Briton set him running, the hostage-taker gave chase. Shortly afterwards, the latter was shoveled by a police car, checked for explosives, calculated and sent digitally to the hospital.
Sad for the hostage taker
There is no mention of the situation in which the hostage man passed himself, and of the spectacular way the predicament came to an end. Georgina Verbaan has also usually called on herself to shed some light on the incident. And the actress does not shy away from taking an unpopular position.
Bizarre evening. Yet also quite hit that man.

Verbaan clearly also saw how the 27-year-old hostage-taker, armed with a handgun and automatic weapon, was aimed a few meters into the air when the car hit him. “Bizarre evening”, the actress begins. “Yet also quite hit that man.”
The latter in particular has a lot of influence, if we are to believe the reactions under the tweet. “That man has been holding someone at gunpoint for a long time!!!”, someone snaps under the message. “WTF Georgina.”
The presenter with the oh so characteristic voice Britt Dekker also makes herself heard under the post. “A lifelong trauma to a hostage situation that is bad”, Dekker fires at Verbaan. “Pity for this kind of extremely violent perpetrators, sorry I can’t take this.”

Georgina explains
And although there are also people who understand Georgina’s view on the matter, she still feels compelled to provide her tweet with more explanation. Georgina: “I don’t like the fact that people confuse empathy with sympathy. I don’t like the fact that nothing is allowed to coexist here, that it can be and that what someone does you can hate to see how a person – apart from being deeds is hit.”
UPDATING:
On Wednesday evening, Het Parool announced that it would be Abdel Rahman A. Lawyer Jan-Kees van den Brink also spoke in the newspaper, who has assisted A. in the past. Van den Brink: “He was no longer approachable and passed away”. The lawyer says he is speaking on behalf of the mother of the 27-year-old hostage-taker. The Public Prosecution Service has confirmed that the man is no longer alive.
