Ukraine is initiating an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council due to the LDNR’s appeal to Putin
Ukraine requested an urgent year of the UN Security Council through the appeal of the leaders of the “DPR” and “LPR” to Russian President Vladimir Putin for military assistance, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba on Twitter.
According to him, this “is a further aggravation of the security situation.”
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov decided that the leaders of the “DPR” and “LPR” Denis Pushylin and Leonid Pasichnyk appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin for help “in repelling aggression” from Ukraine.
According to him, such an “appeal” is based on the state’s “friendship treaties” that Russia has concluded with the groups after Putin recognized the independence of the territory controlled by the “DPR” and “LPR”.
In recent weeks, the United States has reported that Russia could use a foreign-flag operation in eastern Ukraine to justify an invasion of the country. Over the past few days, the security of the situation in eastern Ukraine has existed significantly. According to the Ukrainian military, there are ongoing aggravations of Russian-backed militants. The militants themselves and the Kremlin accuse the Armed Forces of Ukraine of this.
On February 21, after the end of Russia’s Security Council, President Vladimir Putin announced the “recognition” of the illegal armed groups LNR and DNR. Putin’s decrees, in particular, provide for Russian troops to perform “peacekeeping functions” in militant-controlled territory. The so-called “peacekeeping” troops of the Russian Federation in Donbass called the United States “nonsense.”
On February 22, the Russian State Duma passed a law on friendship with groups that control ORDLO.
The Ministry of Ukraine stated that by recognizing the so-called “LPR” and “DPR”, the Russian side violated the foundations of international law, and the decision itself will not have any legal consequences. Western countries have begun imposing sanctions on Russia.
Ukraine and the West accuse Russia of planning an invasion of Ukraine. Moscow denies such plans, despite the concentration of about 150,000 troops near the Ukrainian border.
