Toulouse: Lafarge Béton on strike for a wage hike
The employees of Lafarge Béton, in Toulouse, Thibaud area, have been on strike since February 22. The annual negotiations recorded a 3% increase in wages, according to the strikers.
Employees of the Lafarge Béton site in Toulouse, in the Thibaud zone, have been on strike since Tuesday, February 22. The call to strike is national, whereas yesterday an exceptional meeting between the management of the company and the trade unions is understandable. Mandatory annual negotiations (NAO) on wages recorded a 3% increase, paid from February for non-executives, and recognition of the expertise and seniority of concrete centralists, from July 2022.
“The situation calls for going beyond this subject of NAO, which has already been the subject of a company agreement, and to hear the concerns of employees”, wrote the company’s management to employees on Tuesday. Adding: “This movement affects only 20% of the total concrete sites (in France), however the management considers that it is the expression of a dissatisfaction which must be listened to”.
“This strike is a first in Lafarge’s concrete sector, and it is closely followed in the region. Compared to other sectors (aggregate, cement), we have the feeling of being the poor relations, ”explains Christophe, in front of the company, this Wednesday. “We don’t have the same treatment as the other sectors.” He insists: “The way of directing us has deteriorated in recent years, we must make numbers and be silent. The work increases, but not the recognition. »
