Six more medals for Bulgaria from the Strandzha Cup
Six wins of the match and the perfect balance for the Bulgarian national team appeared six on the fourth day of the Strandzha Cup. Four boxers from Bulgaria qualified for the semifinals, and two more reached the quarterfinals in the 73rd edition of the oldest international boxing tournament in Europe. This year it has the status of “gold” to the Diamond League and has a built-in fund of 200 thousand dollars.
After the victory of Stanimira Petrova (54 kg) and Svetlana Kamenova (57 kg) in the afternoon session, the evening provided four more reasons for joy. The beginning was added by Radoslav Rosenov. The 18-year-old debutant in the men’s tournament advanced to the semifinals in the 60kg category. The national team put on a real show for publication and definitely defeated Simone Spada from Italy with a 5-0 judge’s vote. The Bulgarian is obviously having fun in the ring, as he is significantly higher class. On Friday, for a place in the final, he will face another Italian – Gianluca Rousseau.
In the quarterfinals on Thursday with the two Bulgarian partners in the 75 kg category. William Cholov, who, like Rosenov, is also a debutant in men’s boxing, is dealing with the Estonian Maxim Lyubimov. The young talent held the meeting very accurately and measuredly. In his typical style, he inflicts a quick series of combinations, after which he avoids the opponent’s counterattacks with excellent movement in the ring. Tactics that provided you with the victory with 5: 0 votes. For a place in the semifinals tomorrow he will meet Mindaugas Gedminas from Norway.
Rami Kiwan did the same. The Bulgarian won with 5: 0 judges Omurbek Mamanov from Kyrgyzstan. The two made the first two rounds relatively equal. In the third, however, Kiwan shows high class and enviable self-confidence, literally dancing in the ring to eliminate his opponent. On Thursday, he will face Kazakhstan’s Nurkanat Rais.
The excellent series was closed by Jordan Morehon. In the heaviest (+92 kg) he defeated Jonas Jazevicius from Lithuania and qualified for the semifinals. The naturalized Cuban provided a minimal bronze medal, after showing that an arsenal of strikes and with more powerful and accurate hits, he refused to oppose the Lithuanian. In an attempt to qualify for the final, Morejon will meet Nelvi Tyafak from Germany.
