Lebler storms for Salzburg
The sparrows were whistling from the rooftops, now it’s official: Red Bull Salzburg have strengthened themselves for the play-offs with Linz striker Brian Lebler.
The championship title has to go to Salzburg – and at any price. With the signing of Brian Lebler, the Bulls send another challenge to the competition shortly before the start of the play-offs. The Linz captain has scored 25 goals this season and is once again one of the top scorers. For the Black Wings, the season ended after the last regular season game day on Sunday.
“I want to play for the championship”
“Not making the playoffs with Linz in the last two years is really hard for me. I always want to play for the championship at the highest level and I am therefore very grateful for the opportunity to play this phase with the Red Bulls this year It’s like a bonus for me. I’m happy to be part of the Salzburg team this time and I’ll do everything I can to help the team,” emphasized Lebler.
Debut already possible on Friday
The new signing could already celebrate his debut in the Bulls jersey in the home game against Innsbruck on Friday. Lebler: “It will be a bit strange to wear a different helmet and jersey after so many years with the Linzers. But I know most of the team and also the head coach a little bit and at the end of the day it’s about playing hockey. And it’s a good opportunity for me to learn how the Red Bulls work as an organization.”
Lebler still has a contract in Linz until 2024
After the end of the season, Lebler will return to Linz, where he still has a contract until the summer of 2024. “We made this decision anything but easy for ourselves. But we wanted to comply with the player’s express wish and not spoil his great chance of another championship title,” says Linz President Peter Nader.
