Danske Bank must review 27,000 Norwegian debt collection cases
In the autumn of 2021, the Danske Bank Group announced that it would investigate whether an IT error, which has led to certain cases being made incorrectly in Denmark, could also be present for Norwegian customers.
According to press officer Øystein Schmidt at Danske Bank, preliminary investigations show that this may be the case. It has previously been thought that this error did not affect Norwegian customers.
«Danske Bank is now launching extensive work to get a full overview of the scope of the case, including this also with regard to any summer involved. A total of 26,750 debt collection cases are to be reviewed “, Danske Bank writes in a press release on Tuesday afternoon.
– Our focus now is to assist our customers by sorting out this complex matter as thoroughly and quickly as possible. As our investigations related to this move forward, we get more and more information about how these possible errors are related to our challenges around this in Denmark and the rest of our marked. This is also the reason why we decided to take a closer look at whether the errors related to debt collection cases in Denmark could have affected the customer in another country as well.
– We will continue our work related to this so that we can get all information on the table in all markets, and we regret that at present can not further information, says press officer of Danske Bank Norway, Øystein Schmidt.
The Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority has been notified of the content of this case.
