Athens is re-established in the international tourism market
The 8th will take place on May 9th and 10thThe Travel Trade Athens in Athens, a Business-to-Business (B2B) organization for the targeted promotion of the capital in the global tourism market.
Following the hybrid organization of 2021, Travel Trade Athens returns this year in its original form, adhering to the applicable health protocols. It will host in Athens 70 international representatives of leading travel agencies and companies, professionals in the field of conferences and events from the main targets of Europe, Britain and North America, as well as distinguished journalists of the international tourism press. Respectively, a total of 100 representatives of Athenian tourism companies will have the opportunity to participate in this year’s event. The goal is to create strong professional ties and the effective promotion of Athens as a leading, sustainable and safe tourist destination in the new era.
The event was created by the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens (EATA), through the Office of Conferences and Visitors (This is Athens-Convention & Visitors Bureau) in collaboration with the European Tour Operators Association (ETOA). To date, Travel Trade Athens has hosted more than 500 representatives of international tourism products from 35 countries and has recorded more than 16,000 B2B meetings.
«The 8The Travel Trade Athens gives us the valuable opportunity to re-establish the city in the international Tourism market. “Athens is changing day by day through small and large-scale projects, offering even more opportunities to its municipalities,” said the mayor of Athens, Costas Bakogiannis. As he said, the goal is to further strengthen the destination, to stimulate the city’s economy and to multiply jobs.
In the program of the organization that was included for the 2nd consecutive year, an educational day, specially designed for the needs of the Athenian market, in the framework of the strategy of the Municipality of Athens and EATA for the development of know-how.
It is noted that in 2021, Athens secured participation in five major international tourism fairs and conferences and entered into a strategic partnership with the International Association of Professional Conferences (IAPCO) to further strengthen its position in the global ranking of ideal destinations for professional tourism.

It is noted that the priority of participation is given to the members of the Conference Office and the Visitors of the Municipality of Athens. For each interested party, order of priority will be observed, while the observance of the ratio based on the registered office of the companies (Athens – Attica) will be taken into account.
