The draw for the rounds of the 72nd Viareggio Cup took place on Monday 21 February in the Representation Room of the Municipality of Viareggio, scheduled from 16 to 30 March.

The Serie D Representative was included in group 6 with Atalanta, Siena and the Nigerians of the Garden City Panthers. The Serie D selection coached by Giuliano Giannichedda, for the fifteenth time at the Under 18 World Youth Football Tournament, will take to the field on Thursday 17, Saturday 19 and Tuesday 22 March.

Twenty-four participating teams are divided into six groups made up of four clubs each. The first two of each group pass the round together with the four best thirds of all the groups.

The calendar and the regulations will be announced on the occasion of the official presentation scheduled at the beginning of March with data and location still to be formalized.

In its fourteen participations in the Viareggio Cup, the Representative has never met Siena and Garden City Panthers. Two previous matches with Atalanta, both in the groups, one victory for each side. In 2009 the Representative beat the Bergamo players 1-0, who were not satisfied with the feats of the various Kone, Zaza and Gabbiadini. In 2014 captain Caldara’s Atalanta won with a daring 3-2.
