The first NATO Special Forces Workshop in Prague welcomed 50 participants
This week, senior representatives of Alliance and Partner countries, including Special Forces Commanders, met in Prague to attend a special NATO Operation Command workshop. The forum was thematically focused on the issue of complex defense, its aspects and integration into national defense strategies and plans. This is the first symposium of its kind.
The workshop presented participants with best practices and opportunities to improve defense policies for allies and partners in order to educate and inform. All members of society should be able to defend themselves against any external threats.
“The benefit of this workshop was not only a lot of new knowledge, but also the fact that building the state’s resilience to a wide range of threats requires long-term and comprehensive preparation, from government level through public and private civilian institutions to individuals, citizens,” commented Colonel Gšt. . Ladislav Rebilas, Director of the Special Forces Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
“Special Operations Forces (SOF) wants to be a link in complex defense issues. From a strategic point of view, SOFs do not have a leading or the most important role in comprehensive defense. However, they have a responsibility to understand how complex defense works, how different sections of the population interact. The workshop provided a space to discuss best practices, helping us identify strengths and areas for improvement, as well as policy issues that will help each strategic state in its national defense strategies, “said Colonel Taner Karabulut, Director of Cooperation, Special Operations Command. NATO. In conclusion, he thanked the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic for organizing this important workshop for the Alliance at a time critical to security.
The nation’s ability to successfully deter itself from threatening threats depends on its willingness and ability to unite all elements of national power, including the active participation of individual citizens. The key is to understand defense comprehensively – from the tactical level to the strategic one. In addition, this workshop serves to increase resilience and synergies across NATO. The Alliance is currently facing a more unpredictable world and new security threats.
“The seminar has been around for a long time and its organization in Prague was entirely symbolic for us. This year marks the 80th anniversary of Operation Anthropoid. The seminars were attended by about fifty representatives of NATO’s special and partner countries, “added Colonel Rebilas. As part of the accompanying program of the seminar visitor, they also visited the crypt in the church of St. Cyril and Methodius.
