Rogaška Slatina gets 2 million euros for 106 million lookout tower
STAFebruary 17, 2022 – The government approved up to 2 million euros to subsidize the construction of an observation tower in Rogaška Slatina, a municipality in eastern Slovenia that has been known for its natural health resorts for centuries.
A statement issued by the government’s communications office following Wednesday’s cabinet meeting said the government had approved funding as it included the project in the 2022-2025 development program plan.
The 106-meter-high Crystal Tower is one of the key projects in Rogaška Slatina’s strategy to develop as a tourist destination, increase revenue from the industry and make the city and region more competitive.

The government said in a statement that the project would create new jobs, five directly after the completion of the investment, as well as indirectly in its multiplier effect on the economy as a whole. As the tower will be located in a degraded urban area, it will exploit the untapped potential of the destination.
The erection of the tallest lookout tower in Slovenia was supported by the local community in a referendum in December 2020 following objections from residents.
The investment is estimated at 3.7 million euros. Municipal authorities obtained a building permit for the tower in July 2021 and are counting on it to be completed by early 2023.
