“The Attica Regional Governor G. Patoulis signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Academy of KAE Panathinaikos OPAP with the aim of implementing a series of sports activities for children and young people in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The Agreement was signed by the Regional Governor and the General Manager of KAE Panathinaikos OPAP F. Albertis. Present were the Deputy Regional Minister of Finance N. Peppas, the Director of Strategic Relations of KAE Panathinaikos OPAP G. Kalaitzis, M. Rachovitsas Operation Director PAO BC ACADEMY, the Director of the Regional Development Fund of the Regional Development Department S. Drossis, the Cooperation of the Regional Governor in Sports Ch. Galanopoulou and officials.
This action is implemented with the support of the Attica Region and in particular the Regional Development Fund through the Structure in support of social cohesion and development intervention actions – Social Network Attica “. The program is entitled “Sports actions – team sport – for children and young people in the Autism Spectrum Disorder”, which is funded by the Social Fund (ESF) of the OP. “Attiki” 2014-2020.
On the occasion of the signing of the Pact, the Regional Governor G. Patoulis stated: “We actively support every action with a strong social sign and we contribute to the reduction of social exclusion phenomena. I would like to congratulate the Panathinaikos team and the academy that will contribute to the implementation of this program, which gives children an opportunity to find a creative way out and unite with sports. Exercise is an integral part of the treatment itself. I would like to congratulate Francesco Albertis and George Kalaitzis who with their actions leave their mark on the history of basketball and contribute together with all the executives of KAE Panathinaikos to the creation of a social face of Solidarity and Humanity. Sports action
The program includes the organization of basketball lessons in special sections designed for the needs of the autism spectrum. The trainings that take place at the Auxiliary Basketball Court of OAKA (Maroussi) and have no financial burden for the parents. For applications, a relevant announcement of Call for Expressions of Interest will follow. The program may also include people with autism, regardless of age. “
