Germany and Moldova, joint meeting on strengthening the NAC’s capacity to prevent and fight corruption – Ziarul de Garda
The evaluation of the National Integrity and Anticorruption Strategy, the elaboration of a new policy document, as well as the strengthening of the capacities for investigation and recovery of criminal assets were the main topics discussed by the management of the National Anticorruption Center and the representatives of the German International Cooperation Agency. of a. working meetings held in Chisinau, the NAC announced in a press release.
According to the communiqué issued by CNA, during the meeting, Iulian Rusu, CNA director, mentioned that GIZ’s assistance in the field of strengthening the capacities of preventing and combating corruption of CNA, as well as financial investigations is a valuable value.
“Together with the project experts to carry out an objective and in-depth evaluation of the current anti-corruption policy document of the Center, and then to proceed with the elaboration of a new National Anti-Corruption Strategy”, mentioned Iulian Rusu.
During the meeting, the issues related to the assistance for the Crime Asset Recovery Agency (ARBI) of the NAC were also discussed. Birger Nerré, GIZ Public Finance / Tax Project Planning Specialist, and Radu Foltea, Senior Adviser, gave assurances that they would support CNA’s efforts in areas of common interest and put forward several proposals for initiating broad discussions with the Authority. civil society.
“We come with the proposal to organize public discussions for the submission of legislative changes that will come to support ARBI of CNA. We want to consult the views of international experts, civil society, the prosecutor’s office, the judiciary, representatives of parliament and the parliamentary opposition in order to present a draft law, agreed with an extended format. We will agree to initiate discussions on the development of ARBI’s Information System support, as we want to build a sustainable system. We will also provide support for the development of the public relations component, in order to increase the personal visibility and leadership of CNA and ARBI “, said Foltea.
GIZ is a project that implements the Financing Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission on strengthening the rule of law and anti-corruption mechanisms.
