PORTUGAL

a historic and (in)tense trajectory

Sugar Mizzy February 17, 2022

Once again, we are dealing with the historical relationship between Portugal and Brazil, as it has not yet been possible to reach a peaceful convergence. Relation to officially complete on April 21, 522 years, and on September 7 we will have 200 years of independence. In this trajectory, social and common, with deep roots in its political, economic aspects, and that produce, historical and historical marriages still producing their cultural reflexes. The transatlantic adventure between actions and information, which lasts for months and is currently fast and instantaneous, has never been enough to settle differences and antagonisms. This gap has a level of complexity that cannot and should not be treated in a simplistic way due to the enormous risk of widening this distance – nothing contributory.

The Luso-Brazilian history, if marked by moments of fierce setbacks, also encompasses attempts to bring the two nations closer and closer. Curiously, the negative aspects of this relationship, always, new contours with lesser or greater intensity consolidating the worst of both sides. These aspects are the only ingredients that are fundamental to the levels of this interaction. Colloquial and anecdotal searches for echo conversations, but which also study a bot scenarios for studies and studies of intellectuals, and studies of studies and academic research. These approaches are chosen dilemmas in a conflict defined in question about the real victim and the victim are defined in question of the egg and the chicken.

A broader and more in-depth historical analysis will show that our trajectory has some expressive parallels that must be proven based on time and circumstances. Of course, a parallelism in which there are questionable and even praiseworthy and enriching actions that cross, cross and cross the Atlantic. This path is carried out in a two-way street and as it encompasses a heritage composed of its original and original aspects, and these, in fact, are bilateral. Narratives concretized only in specific aspects and in a single one, will certainly produce deviations towards unproductive polemics. It is necessary to go in the opposite direction, otherwise, we will have a unilateral, distorted view of the conflicting contours and sometimes a loving relationship – a parental alienation.

There is a mutual responsibility in the Luso-Brazilian relationship so that there is no sense of responsibility or separation, the decanted distance from its current and future fellow citizens. In this sense, a special mention should be made of the expressive number of Portuguese descendants of Brazilian origin and nationality from Portuguese ethnicities, or mixed with other nationalities or nationalities. It is the peculiarity of the existence of Portuguese people who for political, historical and sentimental reasons are recognized, and also the existence of few Brazilians who were admittedly not honorably their Lusitanian. The Portuguese positive as a contribution of illustrious and well-known intellectuals has a presence in various sectors of continental Brazil and in the formation of Brazilian nationality – heritage.

In our contemporary history, the Faculty of Law of São Paulo, from 1827, had José Maria de Avellar Brotero as its first lecturer. The Historical and Geographical Institute of São Paulo, from 1894, with its illustrious Portuguese and Portuguese descendants such as Theodoro Sampaio, Ricardo Severo and Gago Coutinho. The University of São Paulo, 1934, with Fidelino Figueiredo, Agostinho da Silva, Jaime Cortesão, and guidance from Bento Caraça to the Polytechnic School. The Museum of the Portuguese Language of São Paulo, 2006, guardian of our mother tongue. There is still much more to feed the discussions. They are neighborhoods, streets, institutions and schools of various levels of education in which there is a tribute to the positive Portuguese heritage, with identification by the names of regions, cities, products and illustrious Portuguese – historical and/or contemporary.

Our history, whether colonial or not, records Portuguese participation in commerce, gastronomy, charity, music, literature, engineering, architecture, medicine, economy, university and even football. There are conclusion works, completed studies and conclusion study studies. This Portuguese heritage, with its ingredients and contours, contributes to the search for Brazilian nationality. Thus, between negative and positive inheritance we can choose both, as they meet specificities and circumstances. There is, in fact, a gap, due to a wide and mutual lack of knowledge, and transatlantic actions are essential to reduce or eliminate it. History is not political, it is managed – will and diplomacy.
