“Protection of the vulnerable groups of the San Marino citizens”
The total absence of the government on issues related to the well-being and protection of the weaker sections of the population is more worrying every day. The frenzied activism on the justice front (to stop trials, insert relatives and boyfriends in strategic roles, appoint welcome leaders, etc.) is counterbalanced by total immobility on the issues that affect citizens every day. It is useless to remember the disasters in health care, which are there for all to see every day while the competent secretary takes care of appointing new well-paid consultants, thinking about the new hospital and talking about robotics. Equally worrying is the inertia on issues related to the price boom that has occurred in the last period on goods that are absolutely essential for citizens, in particular fuel and utilities (gas and electricity). We share the appeal of those who underline how, in the appeal of interventions, large sections of the population will suffer in the coming months a sensational loss of their purchasing power and their level of well-being; not to mention the (less strong, but still significant) price increases of other fundamental goods such as food. All this takes place, among other things, within a framework of employment contracts largely expired for years and which can follow the same dynamics of prices: firstly because companies (which in turn are suffering from those increases). We are experiencing an economic recovery, even if the average employment growth between 2020 and 2021 is not even comparable to that which took place between 2018 and 2019, and even if today San Marino is growing less than Italy (in the years 2018 and 2019 it is the opposite occurred). The recovery is therefore fragile and this situation linked to prices, if not addressed, risks paralyzing it. What has the government put in place to deal with this situation? Nothing, as always. Only generic words and reassurances, but zero funds in the budget. Faced with an authorization largely coming from exogenous factors, which cannot be controlled by internal measures, the Government must take care of calming its effects with specific policies. Since the budget law, we have proposed to establish a special fund with the aim of mitigating the effects of increases in utilities and fuels at least for the weakest, lowest-income segments of our population. To tell the truth, here the situation should be considered not only the income, but an overall index of the family’s economy: what the Icee should have been, another issue that the government has put on the back burner. In any case, Icee or not Icee, the Future Republic has been rejected, there is no money in the budget and in the coming months many families will suffer a significant economic drain. Precisely on this theme, RF intends to keep up, giving voice and listening to those who, with old and new forms of poverty, come into daily contact with attention, through their profession or the work of the associations to which they belong. The live Facebook event on Thursday 17 at 21, which we invite everyone to follow in the link on the Repubblica Futura page, will be a further contribution in this sense. It is essential to act, without upsetting companies and their recovery (already at risk, we repeat, for these same dynamics) and trying to prevent the risk of a wage dynamic “of continuous run-up” that would do no good to anyone. Is there anyone in the government who deals with economic policy and the protection of vulnerable sections of the population, between one trip and another, between one selfie and another?
