New records in fuel prices
Brent Crude Oil Price Continued to Rise
Fuel prices are going from record to record. As the current ADAC evaluation of fuel prices in Germany shows, the price for Super E10 climbed within a week on average nationwide by two cents to 1,745 euros – a new all-time high. Drivers also have to pay more for diesel than ever before: a liter currently costs 1,662 euros, which is 0.8 cents more than in the previous week.
According to ADAC, the increase in the price of crude oil compared to the previous week has made fuel more expensive. A barrel of Brent crude oil is currently around 93 US dollars, which is around 2 dollars more than in the previous week. One of the reasons for the price increase was the uncertainty in the crude oil market given the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The ADAC expects that an easing of the crisis and a fall in the oil price will also be delivered to motorists immediately through lower fuel prices.
The ADAC is also demanding that, in view of the record fuel prices, the tax distance allowance WILL be increased. According to the ADAC, the increase to 38 cents per kilometer, which has already been decided for 2024, should be brought forward and also apply from the first kilometer of the one-way distance to work.
Irrespective of this, drivers should take advantage of every opportunity to save money when filling up. Evaluations show that petrol and diesel cost the most in the morning around 7 a.m., and are replaced in the evening between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. If you fill up then you can save up to seven cents per liter on average. The price differences between the well-known brand petrol stations can also be significant and – as shown by the ADAC evaluation – amount to around six cents per liter.
