Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan discussed issues of “grey imports” of Chinese goods to the EAEU – Economy and business

Representatives of the customs and tax services of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia discussed at a meeting in Alma-Ata issues related to the intensity of China’s “grey imports” of goods in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This is in the message of the press service of the Kazakh Prime Minister.
The delegation of the republic was headed by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Trade and High Achievements Bakhyt Sultanov. “Currently, there is a trend towards an increase in the “gray turnover” of Chinese goods in the EAEU market. Such dynamics cannot remain without due attention from our governments,” he said. Sultanov focused on such risks: tax shortfalls, import of counterfeit products, low-quality and often unsafe products in the markets. “This is a factor that causes increased attention to the development of a competitive market in mutual trade, which ultimately leads to an increase in the number of cases, especially sensitive to individual economies,” the head of the Kazakh delegation emphasized.
The Russian delegation at the meeting was headed by Secretary of State – Deputy Minister of Finance Alexei Sazanov, the delegation of Kyrgyzstan – First Deputy Prime Minister Arzybek Kozhoshev.
“The issues of discussing information between Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia were considered. The sides of the aggravation that the organization of the process involves the solution of topical issues to combat the shadow economy of the three countries in mutual trade,” the report says. The parties supported a deeper study of this issue with the definition of categories of high-risk exporters and targeted work with them.
During the talks, an agreement was also reached on establishing trilateral cooperation with the participation of the fiscal and gastrointestinal authorities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
