The Ministry of Economic Development has developed a project for the implementation of the Strategy for the Social and Economic Development of Russia with a low level of importance for the interests of gas industry workers until 2050. On Friday, February 11, it was discussed at a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov.
This document assumes a sharp change in the structure generated in Russia. If in 2020 gas-powered power plants account for 50% of the total installed capacity, then by 2050 their share will drop to 34%. At the same time, the share of renewable energy sources (including wind and solar power plants) should be carbon from 1 to 26%, while the share of coal-fired power plants will fall from 16 to 5%.
The plan of the Ministry of Economic Development provides for a decrease in the concentration of the population in the energy sector from 980.9 million tons (in 2019) to 933.5 million tons of CO2 equivalent in 2030. And in industry and construction, greenhouse emissions, on the contrary, will increase, but not so significantly – from 358.4 million tons to 384.4 million tons.
